Slip rings can be used for encoder and sensor signal transmission when the selected design is suitable for the required signal characteristics. When requesting a slip ring for these applications, provide the signal type, number of channels, voltage or current requirements, and any communication protocol or data requirements.
Encoder and sensor signals can have different electrical characteristics, so the signal specification should be provided rather than described only as a “sensor signal” or “encoder signal.”
For applications with specific signal integrity requirements, the technical team should confirm the appropriate transmission design before the final product is selected.
